Richard Peters Wildlife Photography

Richard is a Surrey, UK, based wildlife photographer who, first and foremost, has always approached photography as an outlet for his creativity. To this day the driving force and love behind picking up a camera, is to satisfy his inner desire to create. Richard is also a very sociable, engaging, person who gets on well with just about everyone, and loves to learn and teach photographers new things. This has all contributed to many wonderful highlights throughout his career to date.

Richard is best known for a style that often favours dramatic light and has received numerous accolades for his work. This includes being one of the only British photographers to be named the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, alongside winning several awards in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year. He is also an experienced juror, having been on the judging panel for many national and international photographic competitions, including the GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the British Wildlife Photography Awards and the Bird Photographer of the Year.

He has donated images to conservation organisations, which have included WWF UK, the Born Free Foundation and the Jane Goodall Institute. Additionally, to many photographic books over the years, with more notable entries being the Remembering Wildlife series, The New Big Five and Why We Photograph Animals.

Favouring kit that is tried and tested in his workflow, Richard is also an Ambassador for Nikon, Swarovski Optik, Datacolor monitor calibration hardware and Dingbats notebooks. Only working with brands he trusts to get the job done in his daily workflows.

All of this adds up to make Richard a highly experienced photographer, in all aspects that the title requires. His attributes make his talks and workshops particularly welcoming to all who attend, and his communication with private and commercial clients fast and friendly. Please get in touch if you'd like to book Richard for a workshop, talk or commissioned work.
