Join us on a very special photographic safari. A safari with a focus. Looking for the impressively large bull elephants. Our aim is to find these super tuskers throughout the week but we will also be on the lookout for good photographic opportunities of the large herds of elephants Amboseli is also famous for. During our time we will shoot from specialist vehicles that offer low level shooting, enabling us to get close and use wide angle lenses for truly memorable and awe inspiring photos. Some images courtesy of Tom Way.
Our Amboseli photo safari accommodates only 4 guests with a maximum of only 2 per vehicle. This allows both photographers to lay down in the specially adapted vehicles, for low level views of our subjects. A key aspect to this elephant photo safari.
Because we are a small group with two guides and two vehicles, you will benefit from having assistance on each and every one of your 12 game drives. This offers an unparalleled opportunity for learning and hands-on tuition and advice.
With the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop, Amboseli National Park is famous for its huge elephant population. We have secured exceptional access, to enable us to truly get up close to the giants that roam here.
This elephant safari is open to all levels of photographer. Unlike a traditional safari however, we will be favouring wider angle lenses quite a bit in Amboseli. We will always be on hand to help you understand the best ways to maximise this unique perspective of wildlife photography.
To maximise our time on the ground, we have included additional weight allowance for our internal flight. The standard limit of 15kg has been increased to 25kg, allowing all your luggage to travel with you.
During down time, we will review your images to ensure you're getting the very best out of your time away. The learning never stops, be it at in the field or at camp, there's always something new to talk about and discover.
This photo safari is fully booked for 2024 and 2025. Please see below for waiting list options and how to be notified of 2026 dates.

Day 1: We are met on arrival at Nairobi International Airport before taking a short transfer by car to the Tamarind Tree Hotel, for an overnight stay, to rest after your international flights.
Day 2: After breakfast we are collected from the hotel and driven to Wilson domestic airport for our direct flight to Amboseli National Park. We are met at the Amboseli Airstrip by our private guide and driven to our camp and home for the next 6 nights in time for lunch. We will have time to settle in, unpack and discuss the plans for the upcoming days before heading out on our first game drive around 4pm. We will then return to the lodge for dinner and drinks by the camp fire.
Day 3-7: We will spend a total of 6 nights exploring the Amboseli ecosystem in search of Africa's largest elephants. Each day we will follow the traditional safari routine of heading out before first light looking for prime photographic opportunities. With our off-road permits we have the huge advantage of being able to position ourselves in very close proximity to the elephants and with access to our specially adapted vehicle, we will be able to achieve low angle images for the optimum perspective. Once the light is too strong we will stop for a bush breakfast before returning to camp. When we are back in camp, we will have time to rest, have lunch and download/review our images from the morning drive before departing at around 4pm for our afternoon drive. After our drive, we will return to camp for dinner around the camp fire.
Day 8: On our last day, we will have time for a short drive before heading to the airstrip. We will fly back into Wilson airport where we will transfer to the Four Points Hotel and check into a day room to refresh and have lunch and relax ahead of our international flights home.
