Photograph the famous
Bosque del Apache blast-off.

Beautiful Bosque, New Mexico workshop

In conjunction with Natures Images, join us in New Mexico's Bosuqe del Apache Reserve. It is here we'll see one of most incredible sights and sounds the US winter has to offer, the early morning and evening take-off and landing of tens of thousands of Snow Geese. This is an awe inspiring experience for wildlife photographers! Photos courtesy of Natures Images.

Day 1: On ourr arrival at Albuquerque airport we have a 2 hour transfer to Soccoro and our overnight accommodation, dinner and planning the next few days’ photography.

Day 2: Our days in Socorro will be broadly similar to ensure we maximise the opportunities of this justifiably famous location. We will arrive at the Bosque del Apache reserve in time for dawn, to photograph the snow geese taking off in their thousands. Following this, a short trip to the overnight sandhill cranes roost will provide another similar take-off opportunity.

Following a hearty American breakfast, we will rest during the harsh midday light the desert environment gives.

In the early afternoon we will then head back to the reserve in search of roadrunners, coyote, kestrel and more before returning to the prime geese and crane locations for the dusk arrivals. The evenings give the opportunity for some photo critiquing, slideshows and general rest and recuperation.

Days 3-7: Each day will follow roughly the same pattern where we will work on images and at locations that we feel will benefit from more time and focus. The spectacular snow geese blast off is one of nature’s finest shows but capturing it in a still image can be challenging, so we will spend plenty of time perrfecting our images durring our time at Bosque.

Day 8: We will aim for one last dawn photo session before returning to Albuquerque for an overnight flight back to the UK, arriving early on the 8th December.
