The Retina Display on the iPhone 4 really has to be seen to be believed. Images look so crisp and sharp I couldn’t help sizing one of my photos for a wallpaper to see what it looked like on the new high resolution screen! I was so impressed with the quality that I decided to make a handful of my images available on the blog as wallpapers for any other iPhone 4 owners out there. And, depending on how well received they are I’ll make some more images available – in fact if you have a favourite image that you’d like as a wallpaper let me know and I’ll add it to the list.
All images have been re-sized down to 960 x 640 and tweaked to fit the layout of the Lock Screen. To start with I have six wildlife images and three shots of London for you to download. All images are all watermarked due to the higher resolution they need to be in but I have placed it in such a position that it doesn’t ruin the look of the image when viewed on the lock screen – and is quite subtle once on the phone as you can see from the shot below.
Quick Tip: If the images look over saturated etc on your computer screen don’t worry, it’s intentional, they’ll look much more natural once imported to your phone. That was part of the tweaking process to get them iPhone 4 friendly, and I’ve tested each one to make sure they display nice on the phone…and they all look great!

How do I get them on my phone?
Simply click one the links below the images for the wallpaper you want, when the big image appears drag it to your desktop (or right click ‘save as’ for Windows users), import in to iPhoto and then finally sync your iPhone 4 up with iTunes and your done. The photo will now appear in your photos app on the phone.
At the bottom of the page you’ll find the link where you can grab the images from.

If you like them…
If you like the images, stick a quick comment in this article so I know which ones are the most popular (if any!). Or, if there is a particular image of mine you’d like to see as a wallpaper, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

Thanks Richard, I’ll have to remember to try these when i get my iPhone 4.
Please do, hope you like them
These images are phenomenal mate. I’d be glad to have them on my iPhone. If I liked iPhones…
lol cheers buddy!
Really liking the London Eye & Big Ben picture, Richard. Using it right now as my lock-screen wallpaper. Many thanks!
Great stuff Luke, glad you like it, thanks for letting me know
Great wallpaper photos. Will these photos work on iPhone 3Gs as well? I really like the Wildlife in the Mist one. Let me know. Thanks.
Thanks Ed. These are all iPhone 4 screen res. If you want them to work on the 3GS you will need to use photoshop to resize down to that of 3GS screen res (and assuming you have got IOS 4 installed). If you are unable to resize yourself let me know and I’ll do it for you
The deer Wallpaper looks smooth and artistic…
These photographs are fantastic! I only wish I could take photographs this good!
My favourite has to be the damselfly (if that is what it is)
I was wondering, I have a few photographs of my own that I’d like to use as a background for my iPhone 4, is there a good guide out there to tell you how to make a photograph iPhone friendly as it seems quite complicated (especially for the likes of me)
Hi Cameron, thanks for the kind words. It’s actually quite simple really, you just need to resize the images to that of the iPhone 4 display, adjust contrast etc to suit and then save them off as jpegs and load on to your phone in the normal manner.
