After months of planning, the build up is finally over and Sky News has switched to HD and our main coverage of the 2010 General Election is over. Yep, it’s been a busy time at work recently with all this going on, hence my lack of all things photography. So to celebrate not only the achievements of my friends and colleagues hard work, plus the return of hopefully slightly more time to dedicate to my photography again, I thought I’d take a panoramic shot of the Sky News HD studio, on the night of the Election itself.
If your screen is lower res than 1800 pixels across, the large version above will open in a window set to width of your screen and you can then click and scroll around the image within that window.
Shot details
Camera: Nikon D3
Lens: Nikon 50mm 1.4 AFS (read my review)
Settings for all 10 shots: hand held, 1/80, f5.6, ISO 1600
Original image size: 15,000 x 4200 pixels
The shot was taken about half an hour after voting closed and before any results were in, so during the earlier ‘quiet’ part of the night. It encompasses the whole studio from the news-wall, far left, to the main desk in the middle and the mezzanine far right. The news-wall has the Decision Time branding that was used for the Election coverage, Adam Boulton is presenting from the desk – interviewing some guests, and presenter Kay Burley can be seen talking live on some of the plasma’s dotted around the studio. The various monitors and screens dotted around the image also show various presenters, reporters, live shots and graphics that all came together to make the over night HD Election show a great success.
Time for a day off…!

Larger version is brilliant.
Really nice photo mate. It shows just how beautiful the studio is and how clean its kept!
