I think these "catalog filler" body updates inane. I just rebuilt most of my Nikon glass inventory, so I guess I'm with the "yellow N" for the long haul. But Canon bodies on the verge of being up two laps on Nikon offerings, and this makes me think Nikon - though they "created" the DSLR revolution - will be stuck in second, for the duration.

Going forward, Nikon will have to halve its release cycle just to play on the same field as Canon. We need more mega-pixels - despite the mythology - sooner; not later. I think video is valid, but at what cost. Anything beyond 10 FPS seems pointless, but maybe I'm just old fashioned.

Hmmmm, D4! Now that will be worth waiting for. I think the Jury is still out on integrated video.

I agree, really interested to see what the 1D MkIV brings to the table...that will hopefully be a good indication of what the D4 will bring us...

Spec is impressive. Finally Nikon have decided to add sensor cleaning!
Movie spec though, is definitely very underwhelming. And I see the 5mp 11fps crop thing is still there. That's a bit pants.

Overall, the camera is great, but I don't think it was necessary to upgrade just yet. These "s" models are Nikon milking the cow.

October 20 will see some competition from Canon as well with the Mk IV.
