Very good photos. I’ve been shooting otters in Florida, USA for awhile but have not had much luck with good quality shots because of the otters wet fur. I can send you come of mine but I would also appreciate knowing the settings you use for otters.

Those are wonderful shots, Richard! We have a property in Cumbria that has a balcony overlooking the River Kent and an artificial otter holt. No signs of any life in the holt yet but the river is said to be occupied by otters so am hoping I will one day be able to get some similar captures…

If you go to the Sea Life visitor centre in the car park at Tobermory, they have a map with the various spottings of otters marked on it. There are quite a few areas where they have been seen. We saw one right next to the road swimming in the water between Salen and Craignure – sorry I cant say the exact spot. I also saw one off Craignure at one point. But there are many places to see them as far as I can see. I think Loch Buie may be another.

Wow – brilliant photos and story told so realistically I could imagine having been there. Hubby and I spending 2 weeks in Mull next year and would love to see some of these beautiful creatures.
