Barn Owls

March 12, 2009

Another first for me! The past month has been a good one with managing to photograph my first Kingfisher, Short Eared Owl and also Barn Owls!

Although my time with the Short Eared Owls has come to an end, the good news is the very same fields also have some resident Barn Owls! So over the summer I’m going to try and visit the location as often as I realistically can (given it’s a 110 mile round trip). There is quite a lot of potential for getting in to good positions so I’m hoping a bit of persistence will pay off. They already seem happy to hunt in daylight hours, coming out until midday sometimes and at least an hour before sunset on occasion…so I’m hoping when they have young they’ll be hunting even more and will provide ample opportunities…

  2. haha I can’t lie, it’s been a good month! But that kind of productivity is, unfortunately, few and far between. Something I would like to change!
