Hi Karhan. Technically no, there is nothing inside the bag that could hurt the front element of the 500 f4. But I would always recommend covering the front element. I use a Aquatech lens cap for my 600 VR. I hope that helps.

Hi Peter. First, thanks for your very useful review.
I have some late question,
what I wonder is that, is there a danger of hurting the front glass of my 500 f/4 canon, when I place it in Lens Trekker 600 AW II with hood reversed (not in shooting position), without a lens cap.

Thanks,
Karhan.

Hi all,

For the Sigma 800mm users this bag will hold the lens with body but the padding with the hole in it is a bit small for the lens barrel. So i have to put it vertical. I think it is the same for a 300-800mm lens.

Kind regards,

You're welcome. It's a great bag, I've used mine to carry various setups ranging from D3, D300, 200-400, 600mm and a Macbook Pro to Florida and Holland. Great bag, must get round to reviewing it asap! Equipment has a tendency to outgrow bags...I think I have more bags than any other bit of kit now lol :)

Hi Dean, in my opinion this bag is way too large for the 300 VR and would require a lot of extra padding. However you may find it will fit in the ThinkTank Photo Streetwalker HardDrive, as that bag will accept a D3 with 200-400 attached (lens hood reversed). If you measure up your 300mm against the 200-400 it might fit (I can even get my 600/4 in the ThinkTank, minus hood and camera body detached, but still in the bag - gives you an idea how big the internals are). Hope that is of some help... :)

Hi Richard,

Would this bag be a good fit for the Nikon 300mm f2.8 VR II, or would there be too much space either side of the lens, meaning I'd need extra padding in place.

Thanks for the review :)

Hi Mansour, thank you for the question. Someone asked a similar one in the comments above (Clemn, on 27th June 2009) so I have just given you the main info below to help you with an answer.

Internal dimensions of the bag are roughly 23.5 inches tall - so assemble all your kit and measure it up. If the height is less than the internal bag height you are good to go! Hope that helps :)

I am looking for a long lens case to fit my canon 1dsii+canon 300mm 2.8+hood (not reversed). would Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 II AW be able to fit all these?
